Hi Sarah and Jeff
Thanks for popping by and posting a comment - much appreciated! Especially as my blog has been a little quiet recently!

Its great to see OT's really experimenting in Second Life and using this medium to increase people's awareness of our profession. In second life I'm Koru Bracken, but I've yet to get to any level of competence of biulding etc.. I tend to cruise in and out to see what I can find, and I've joined a group online that is NZ educators... so would be good to meet up some time soon.

Will try and connect soon

I'd be interested in hearing more about your research jeffots

Hello, Great Blog! I am one of the grad students from Thomas Jefferson University working at the OT Center on Eduisland II. I'm happy to see SL getting to exposure it deserves in the educational arena. I have been doing my graduate research study on SL....There is literature that supports the benefits of SL in promoting health awareness.

Hi Merolee, great to see your post and know that other OTs are interested in Second Life. I think it is a great idea to "find a place to meet that is safe, teleporting in the newbies to the ’safe space’ so that they aren’t confronted with some of the ‘interesting people’.. and then using this space to discuss/explore and consider the possibilities." If any are interested, we would be pleased to host meetings at the OT Center in Eduisland II, http://slurl.com/secondlife/Eduisland%20II/203/21/22
Perhaps an early morning time could work, we are on Eastern US time.
If anyone is interested, please contact me by email, susan.toth-cohen@jefferson.edu or in-world, my second life name is Zsuzsa Tomsen. Also feel free to visit the OT Center and see our latest exhibit on carpal tunnel syndrome. The location on Eduisland II is a great place for the first time explorer and the island has many resources.

Hi Merolee, I too have been considering just such things in terms of a role for OT in second life - more so from the perspective of Ots being able to use second life as another intervention tool to explore and enhance client interactions. You may want to check my post on our website that considers the issue of disability within second life. Feel free to add comment.
