I found this link by going to our ‘Web 2.0′ librarian’s blog which led me to this presentation from eFest which introduced newbies to bloggies using a kinesthetic approach. It looked brilliant. Then followed a list of further reading and resources – looks like a great site for the Web 2.0 group which I think I’ll use on Monday night.
Now we’ve got some of the skills more developed (ie blogs and del.icio.us) I think we need to spend this week working on ways to increase people’s awareness of the presence of the therapists blogs. I think they need to spend time looking at others, making some connections by leaving comments, and then inviting those people back to their own blogs. I think they also need to be clear about the purpose of their blogs – what are they wanting to achieve. Do they want it as a place to store information/links that will make it easier for others following along, or is the start of a network. Two of the therapists have also attended a conference in Australia – so will be interesting to see what they might have learnt, and how they may then use their blogs to reflect on their learning?

Hi Merolee,
Do you have an RSS feed to your site? I’ve tried to find it so I can subscribe and keep up with what’s happening. Sorry I missed Monday evening I would’ve liked to come for a look see. Will you be having another one I can come to?

good question Wendy – I do as web feeders are finding my site.. but just where or how I’m not quite sure. We meet every Monday night – so will ask the group on email today – and you could join us if they agree on this coming Monday.

good to see reflection-in-action :)) your ideas for getting the group interested are good steps – seeing what others are doing can be very motivating. so now it is “bloggies ” eh…must have been writing it late at night. here we have blogmeister and a blogite! lovely words aren;t they. Listening to your podcast now about capacity development.
I agree with the what you said about organisational support and leadership as important factors in the development of capacity – no support, no time, no-one who cares …all factors which can deter from the best intentions to be creative.

Whoops – yep a late posting is never good for attention to spelling! PLeased you enjoyed my podcast – was the squeal in the background too distracting? I’m going back to trying to record on my cellphone – just can’t quite remember how much memory it has but it may provide a better quality recording!

Hi~
I’m Patti- a soon-to-be Occupational Therapy student in New Jersey. I think blogging is a great way to network and resource-exchange on the net. I started a blog in December if you are interested in checking it out or linking it the address is
http://thejourneyhasonlybegun.blogspot.com/
I think these blogs will be valuable not only for other therapists- but also extremely useful for students!
Thanks!

Hi Patti and welcome to the profession…. I’ve been an occupational therapist for over 20 years and still love the job as much as I did when I first graduated…. I know I’m an educator, but I still think of myself as an occupational therapist first who just happens to teach.
Blogging certainly is a great way to find like-minded individuals! There are a few OT blogs – of which more of them are student focused than therapist focused – I wonder why? Anyway here’s hoping that over your next 3 – 4 years of study you will find more occupational therapists blogging!!!
Oh.. there’s also a lot of people – ie consumers of our service or clients or patients who write about what we do – not always in such positive light… but giving the realities of their experiences. Anyway – I will check out your blog and pop in a hello!
